如果在掺杂Eu3+的基质中,用短波长激发,出现了明显的所谓的photo-degradation,那么这大概率是属于长余辉的trapping/OSL detrapping。比如[Unique photoluminescence degradation/recovery phenomena in trivalent ion-activated phosphors]中,用氙灯280 nm照TGG:Eu3+样品1分钟,就有60%以上的强度衰减。

Tb3+-Eu3+ photo-degradation

在Jonas的[Broadband infrared LEDs based on europium-toterbium charge transfer luminescence]中,存在如下的MMCT(electron hopping)$$ \mathrm{Eu}^{2+} \mathrm{Tb}^{3+} \leftrightarrow \mathrm{Eu}^{3+} \mathrm{Tb}^{2+} $$

在[Sensitizing Eu3+ with Ce3+ and Tb3+ to Make Narrow-Line Red Phosphors for Light Emitting Diodes]中,通过掺入bridge ions Gd3+,实现Ce3+-(Tb3+)n-Eu3+的能量传递,否则的话Ce3+-Eu3+的能量传递会有mutual quenching。
